Overview
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable lifesaving device. It is used to diagnose and attempt to reset cardiac conditions which result in an irregular heartbeat.
The use of an AED would clearly be a very stressful situation. The user may find this a daunting task especially if they have no previous first aid training or experience. In order to make the procedure of using the AED as simple as possible, a display can be added to the product showing the status clearly as well as playing a video with instructions on the use of the AED with clear audio instructions.
An MCU (Micro Controller Unit) is used within the product to detect the condition of the heart and determine when a shock should be applied. An Embedded Video Engine (EVE) graphics controller can be added to the product. A small display is then controlled by the EVE graphics controller.
The AED will include a battery and sensors/electrodes.
Key Features:
The following key features of EVE make it ideal for an Automated External Defibrillator application:
- Video playback from flash allows user instruction videos/animations to be played
- Audio output allows clear voice instructions to be played as part of videos as well as warning sounds
- Custom fonts allow multi-language support
- Works with almost any MCU as an SPI peripheral
