Overview
Mobile internet routers traditionally utilise LEDs to provide the users with status indicators for their internet connection; however, these do not provide in-depth connectivity information for the mobile hotspot. Designers are turning towards implementing graphical displays in their router products to provide real time connectivity information to users and an overall improvement in usability. By adding the Embedded Video Engine (EVE) IC and a small display you can:
- Display the signal-to-noise ratio of the mobile connection graphically
- Show warnings if data usage exceeds predetermined limits
- Use audio features to sound alerts in different tones
- Provide upload and download speed readouts for the user
- Widgets and graphical features can be used to replicate traditional displays with additional digital readouts
- Additional pages such as a settings menu can be added, allowing more functionality
Key Features:
The following key features of EVE make it ideal for mobile internet router application:
- The use of colour graphics to add a modern feel to the interface
- Custom fonts allow multi-language support and symbols
- Audio output and built-in sounds allow touch feedback and alert sounds to be easily added
- Create custom widgets such as graphs and arc gauges with EVE’s extensive graphics support
- Supports a whole range of screen sizes (e.g. 3.5”, 5”, 7”, 10.1”, circular) to suit all form factors
- Low resource usage on the host MCU (ideal for adding a display to existing and new designs)
