Overview
Blood pressure readings have traditionally been taken using an analogue pressure gauge. This can be replaced with a standalone unit incorporating a low-cost MCU and a display.
Adding a low-cost MCU with Embedded Video Engine (EVE) IC and a small display brings many benefits including:
- The use of colour graphics to add a modern feel to the interface
- Display readings using modern numerical readouts
- Create traditional gauges on the screen display with dynamic scales and digital readout combined
- Show warnings on-screen if the reading is outside of normal limits
- Use audio features to sound alerts in different tones
Key Features:
The following key features of EVE make it ideal for a blood pressure monitor application:
- Interfaces can be easily updated to align with branding requirements for different regions or product specifications
- Custom fonts allow multi-language support and symbols such as blood pressure
- Works with almost any MCU as an SPI peripheral (use EVE with your preferred/existing MCU)
- Video playback from flash allows user instruction videos/animations to be played
- Audio output and built-in sounds allow touch feedback and alert sounds to be easily added
