Fault finding of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) can be a difficult process. An easy method to identify short circuits is by using a thermal imaging camera connected to an optical microscope. The live video image can be taken from the camera to a colour display. The product design can be improved by incorporating a low cost MCU, an Embedded Video Engine (EVE) IC, small display and a microscope thermal camera.
