Overview
Video Doorbell systems are becoming very popular especially as users are often not at home when parcels are being delivered. In cases where many people live within an apartment block, residents can easily view and communicate with the person in the lobby and decide whether or not to allow them access.
The Embedded Video Engine (EVE) IC can be used along with a low cost MCU and cameras to:
- Create high quality video images with audio allowing the owner to communicate with visitors
- Display a text overlay on the display screen to provide clear status information without additional LEDs etc.
- Utilise the touch display function for doorbell access and to enter access codes
Key Features:
The following key features of EVE make it ideal for a video doorbell application:
- The use of colour graphics to create high quality live video feeds from cameras
- Custom fonts allow multi-language support for text and on the touch screen icons
- Works with almost any MCU as an SPI peripheral (use EVE with your preferred/existing MCU)
- Video playback from flash allows user instruction videos/animations to be played
- Audio output and built-in sounds allow touch feedback and alert sounds to be easily added
