Overview
Many EV Chargers have a very limited user interface (with a basic display or no display at all) which can impair the usability of the product. Incorporating a colour touch-enabled graphical interface into an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station allows a much more intuitive user experience. The touch interface allows the user to interact with the system and offers many advantages compared to mechanical buttons.
Here are just some of the benefits of adding an EVE-enabled touch display:
- Incorporate an attractive and intuitive touch interface into EV charger designs easily
- Improve the customer/user perception of the EV charger brand
- Update the product with minimal changes to other parts of the charger design
- Show a range of parameters such as cost and charging status making the charger more user-friendly
- Use audio tones to further enhance the user experience, for example, touch acknowledgements and alerts
Key Features:
The following key features of EVE make it ideal for an EV charging application:
- Resistive or Capacitive touch screen options
- Custom Touch (BT815/BT817/BT817A) allows waterproof and toughened screens to be used
- Custom fonts allow multi-language support and symbols such as currency
- Low resource usage on the host MCU (ideal for adding a display to existing and new charger designs)
- Works with almost any MCU as an SPI peripheral (use EVE with your preferred/existing MCU)
- Supports various image types for product branding via backgrounds, themes and logos
- Video playback from flash allows user instruction videos/animations to be played
- Audio output and built-in sounds allow touch feedback and alert sounds to be easily added
- The AEC-qualified BT817A offers an extended temperature range for use in externally located chargers
